It was heard since last year that Indians are being recruited into the Russian Army on the pretext of jobs. They are being forcibly sent to the battlefield. As soon as this news came to light, a huge controversy started. Now the Center is shaken by the news of fresh recruitment.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that recently there have been reports of Indians joining the Russian army. According to Randhir Jaiswal, ‘The government has repeatedly informed Indians about the risks.’ All Indian citizens have been requested to stay away from any offer to join the Russian army. The Ministry of External Affairs has informed that 13 Indians are still in the Moscow forces. Of these, 12 are also reported missing. Responding to a question in Parliament about Indians joining the Russian army, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar had said, “I think in most cases Indians are misled. They are being made to join the Russian army on the pretext of other work. However, the Russian President has assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that all Indians in the army will be discharged.”
