India’s DRDO and the Indian Air Force (IAF) are in talks to increase the range of the BrahMos-A supersonic cruise missile.
The missile’s range is planned to be increased from the current 450 km to 800 km, which will further strengthen the long-range strike capabilities of the Indian Air Force, and only the ground-based BrahMos is currently being tested, which will have a range of 800 km.

The BrahMos-A missile, currently launched from the Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet, has been used successfully in the past. For example, during ‘Operation Sindh’, it destroyed 11 of Pakistan’s 13 major air bases.
The missile is undergoing some internal modifications to increase its range to 800 km, such as further improving its ramjet engine and using a new high-energy fuel developed by DRDO. However, these modifications will not change the size or weight of the missile, so it can be easily used from the existing launch platform.
