DRDO develops indigenous antidote to avoid radiation hazards after nuclear attack

For the past few years, there have been wars between many countries where the warring countries are threatening each other with nuclear attacks. In the last nuclear attack in Japan, more than 1 lakh people lost their lives, the biggest reason of which was the radiation released from there, which leaves its mark for a long time.

An indigenous antidote made in India is now ready to avoid the dangers of radiation after a nuclear attack. For the first time in the country, this amazing feat has been accomplished by DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation). The Defence Research and Development Organisation has prepared it in Delhi.

DRDO’s success

DRDO’s Delhi-based laboratory, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences, has prepared this indigenous antidote. This medicine that protects against nuclear radiation has also been approved by the Drug Regulator. Let us tell you that till now, medicines to avoid radiation were only imported from abroad.

Why is it important

This medicine can be used in any nuclear emergency. This emergency occurs when there is a radiation leak from a nuclear power plant for some reason. In such a situation, the antidote of this medicine can be able to save your health. Also, this indigenous antidote can be useful for defense personnel during war because the biggest threat is the use of nuclear weapons.

Threat from nuclear waste

Did you know that nuclear waste can also become an enemy of our lives? Cesium is found in nuclear waste. It is a radioactive element that is extracted from the waste produced by nuclear reactors. Moreover, it is also used in hospitals. Thallium is used in imaging technology in hospitals. This antidote, developed by DRDO, will be available in the market under the name Pru-Decorp.
